Muktinath Development Bank Ltd is established with the effort and support of different government personnel's, reputed businessmen & different people having long term know how in financial institutions to work as 'B' class Development Bank with the approval of Nepal Rastra Bank under "Bank and Financial Institutional act 2063." Muktinath Development Bank Ltd situated in the heart of Pokhara that is Newroad. The major objective of this development bank is to boast the development activates in the country by providing all the required financial facilitates required.

The number of are managerial level staff are 7 and operating level staff are 57 in the Muktinath Development Bank Ltd. In the shot time of operation that is just last three operating years of the bank is operating in profit and its overall profit is increasing at the rate of 15% which shows that the bank has long way to go.

Problems before using IT

In today’s world of globalization we cannot think about doing the business without the use of information technology. IT is the major achievement in the history of human development which has integrated the vast world into the small place. So we cannot even think about the life without information technology.

The problems of not using IT is that all the works has to be done manually which is time consuming, less effective and cannot be expected good overall performance of the organization.The importance of the information technology and information system in the operation of the bank so is using information technology for recording its daily transactions but there are many other further development plans ahead to cope with the changing information technology. The main development plans is to give ATM service (Automatic Teller Machine), VSAT installation and development of ABBS development so that the bank can provide better service to its customers and increase its efficiency.

Hardware

Personal Computer is a system, consisting of many components. Some of those components, like Windows XP, and all your other programs, are software. The stuff you can actually see and touch, and would likely break if you threw it out a fifth-story window, is hardware.
Not everybody has exactly the same hardware. The hardware are the parts of computer itself including the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and related microchips and micro-circuitry, keyboards, monitors, case and drives (floppy, hard, CD, DVD, optical, tape, etc...). Other extra parts called peripheral components or devices include mouse, printers, modems, scanners, digital cameras and cards (sound,color, video) etc... Together they are often referred to as a personal computer or PC.
The main hardware used by the bank are server, AC, computer and other office equipments like printer, scanner, fax machine, etc. the overall cost of the hardware system of the bank is 26lakhs.
Server
A Server is a computer that provides services used by other computers. Services can be supplied centrally by the use of a server; in other cases all the machines on a network have the same status with no dedicated server, and services are supplied peer-to-peer
Server is also used as a designation for computer models intended for use in running server applications under heavy workloads, also called operating units often unattended and for an extended period of time. While any workstation computer is capable of acting as a server, a server computer usually has special features intended to make it more suitable. These features can include a fasterCPU, faster and more plentiful RAM, and larger hard drives. More obvious distinctions include redundancy in power supplies, network connections, andstorage devices as well as the modular design of so-called Blade servers often used in server farms.
Server used as an adjective, as in server operating system, refers to the product's ability to handle multiple requests, and is said to be "server-grade". A serveroperating system is intended or better enabled to run server applications. The differences between the server and workstation versions of a product can vary from the removal of an arbitrary software limits due to licensing, as in the case ofWindows 2000, or the addition of bundled applications as in Mac OS X Server.
There is one server computer of brand IBM with size of the hard disk 1100GB in the Pokhara branch of the Muktinath Development Bank that is connected to all other client computers by coaxial cable. The total cost of the server computer is 6lakhs.

a) Clients

A client is an application or system that accesses a remote service on another computer system, known as a server, by way of a network.^[1] The term was first applied to devices that were not capable of running their own stand-alone programs, but could interact with remote computers via a network. These dumb terminals were clients of the time-sharing mainframe computer.

Clients are generally classified as either "fat clients", "thin clients", or "hybrid clients".

Fat

A fat client (also known as a thick client or rich client) is a client that performs the bulk of any data processing operations itself, and does not necessarily rely on the server. The fat client is most common in the form of a personal computer, as the personal computers or laptops can operate independently. Programming environments for rich clients include Curl, Delphi, Droplets,.Net, Java, win32 and X11.

Thin

A thin client is a minimal sort of client. Thin clients use the resources of the host computer. A thin client's job is generally just to graphically display pictures provided by an application server, which performs the bulk of any required data processing. Programming environments for thin clients include JavaScript/AJAX (client side automation), ASP, JSP, Ruby on Rails, Python's Django, PHP and other (depends on server-side backend and uses HTML pages or rich media like Flash, Flex or Silverlight on client).

Hybrid

A hybrid client is a mixture of the above two client models. Similar to a fat client, it processes locally, but relies on the server for storage data. This approach offers features from both the fat client (multimedia support, high performance) and the thin client (high manageability, flexibility)..

There are total 20 clients computer of brand IBM which are connected to the central server computer. The topology used to connect the server computer and the client computers is bus topology. The total cost of the client computers is 4lakhs.the clients computers are connected to one another using the coaxial cable.

b) Printers / Scanner

In computing, a printer is a peripheral which produces a hard copy (permanent human-readable text and/or graphics) of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies. Many printers are primarily used as local peripherals, and are attached by a printer cable or, in most newer printers, a USB cable to a computer which serves as a document source. Some printers, commonly known as network printers, have built-in network interfaces (typically wireless or Ethernet), and can serve as a hardcopy device for any user on the network. Individual printers are often designed to support both local and network connected users at the same time.

In computing, a scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Common examples found in offices are variations of the desktop (or flatbed) scanner where the document is placed on a glass window for scanning. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications. Mechanically driven scanners that move the document are typically used for large-format documents, where a flatbed design would be impractical.

The number of printer in the bank is six of Epson brand and one scanner of Canon brand which is connected in the network. The total cost of printers, scanners and other office equipments is 11.5lakhs.

Networking

Computer Networking is the term associated with discipline of engineering. In a much broader way Computer Networking is the communication between computer systems. There are two more devices that are to be networked, one of which has to be a computer. The devices that are to be networked may be placed at a distance of few meters from each other if they are connected via Bluetooth and at infinite distance if they are connected by internet.

Computer Networking is also regarded as a sub-discipline of telecommunications, computer engineering, information technology, and computer science also. The theoretical and practical applications are the primary pillars of the Computer Networking studies.

The large areas of networks are done through internet, which covers the largest area that ever existed or ever will, whereas, in a small area the computer networking is done through local area network or LAN. In a small area like home or an office, the computers are connected through standard networking cables with the network interface card in each computer.

The types of network are categorized on the basis of the number of systems or devices that are under the networked area. Computer Networking is one of the most important wings of computing.

Networking is the process by which two or more computers are linked together for a flawless communication. By creating a network, devices like printers and scanners, software, and files and data that are stored in the system can be shared. It helps the communication among multiple

There are three types of network:

· Local Area Network: The Local Area Network is also referred as LAN. This system spans on a small area like a small office or home. The computer systems are linked with cables. In LAN system computers on the same site could be linked.

· Wide Area Network: A Wide Area Network or WAN is a type of networking where a number of resources are installed across a large area such as multinational business. Through WAN offices in different countries can be interconnected. The best example of a WAN could be the Internet that is the largest network in the world. In WAN computer systems on different sites can be linked.

· Wireless Networks (WLAN, WWAN): This is same like the above two networking systems. The only difference is that no wires are used between servers and hosts.

The types of network can be further classified into two more divisions:

· Peer-to-peer networks: In this networking system all computers are given equal importance. All the software and data are stored on each computer and accesses to them are given to each user.

· Server networks: Also known as Client network, in this system, the data are not saved on each computer, rather saved on the server. Each user is enabled the facility of using the data and an access to the files on the server are also given.

Networking in Muktinath Development Bank Ltd

In the modern office environment, each worker is equipped with a personal computer, containing its own disk drives and processor. Each of these computers can communicate with another by the way of a local area network (LAN), which is a computer network that covers a small area, usually a single building or group of buildings. In addition, the LAN may also connect the network of computers with a series of printers, a mainframe computer or file server with even greater processing power and memory storage, and with other devices that can send messages from the network over telephone lines to another location. Since networking is done within the Pokhara branch of Muktinath Development Bank Ltd so it uses Local Area Network.

For the next important activity in networking is the wiring, which provides the physical connection from one computer to another, and to printers and file servers. The properties of the wiring determine transmission speeds. In Muktinath Development Bank Ltd LANs are connected with coaxial cable, the same type used to deliver cable television. These facilities are relatively inexpensive and simple to attach. For the inter branches transaction between the different branches of the bank there is no provision of networking .To connect the different branched and head office there is no central server and networking but instead they use telephone and fax to make connection between the branches. This has caused to decreased the performance of the bank so they are moving for setting wide area network for the inter branches transactions.

Introduction

Software is a general term for the various kinds of programs used to operate computers and related devices. Software can be thought of as the variable part of a computer and hardware the invariable part. Software is often divided into application software (programs that do work users are directly interested in) and system software (which includes operating systems and any program that supports application software). The term middleware is sometimes used to describe programming that mediates between application and system software or between two different kinds of application software (for example, sending a remote work request from an application in a computer that has one kind of operating system to an application in a computer with a different operating system).

Application software

Application software is any tool that functions and is operated by means of a computer, with the purpose of supporting or improving the software user's work. In other words, it is the subclass of computer software that employs the capabilities of a computer directly and thoroughly to a task that the user wishes to perform. This should be contrasted with system software (infrastructure) or middleware (computer services/ processes integrators), which is involved in integrating a computer's various capabilities, but typically does not directly apply them in the performance of tasks that benefit the user. In this context the term application refers to both the application software and its implementation.

Typical examples of software applications are word processors, spreadsheets, media players and database applications. in Muktinath Development Bank Ltd Application software called “Pumary +3^rd” which is a software developed for the doing banking transaction.

Operating software

The most important software package for any computer is its operating system. An operating system is an integrated system of programs that manages the operation of the CPU, controls the input/output and storage resources and activities of the computer system, and provides various support services as the computer executes the application programs of users.

The primary purpose of an operating system is to maximize the productivity of a computer system y operating it in the most efficient manner. An operating system minimizes the amount of human intervention required during accessing a network, entering data, saving and retrieving files, and printing or displaying output. The operating systems are the most indispensable components of the software interface between users and the hard wares of their computer system.

Even though there is trend of using pirated copies of original software but the Muktinath Development Bank Ltd uses the original software is used for both server and for the client computer. The operating software used for server computer is windows XP and Server 2003. For the clients computer windows XP is used. The application software used is Pumary +3^rd. The overall total cost of the software system used in the bank is 20 lakhs.

Training and development activities

The employees already had the knowledge of the computer operation so the employees were given only a week long formal training to run the software system. But there is constant trainings for employees to update them with the latest developments in the field of information technology. The constant training of employees makes the employees motivated towards their work and increases their performance.

It can support programs of continual improvement jn meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations about the quality of products, services, customer responsiveness and other features.

A business can use information technology to help it become an agile company. Then it can prosper in rapidly changing markets with broad product ranges and short model lifetimes in which it must process orders in arbitrary lot sizes, and can offer its customers customized products while maintaining high volumes of production. An agile company depends heavily on internet technologies to help it be responsive to its customers with customized solutions to their needs and cooperate with its customer, suppliers, and other businesses to bring products to market as rapidly and cost effectively as possible.

Lasting competitive advantage today can only come from innovative use and management of organizational knowledge by knowledge creating companies and learning organizations. Communication system refers to flows and directions of information in the communication process. Through a combination of these two elements, information in an organization moves and is exchanged throughout the organization in a systematic way. There are three types of communication system

a)    Downward communication
         It refers to the process of the flowing of information from higher to lower levels. It follows a chain of commands top to bottom. Such commands come into the forms of the direction, instructions and orders and tell subordinates what they have to do from their positions. From upper level, objectives, policies, strategies and programs are transmitted in order to prescribe roles and responsibility for the subordinate employees. Similarly, managers also transmit feedback to the results of the performance evaluations from the top level downward.

b)    Upward communication
    It refers to the process of upward flowing of the information from lower organizational level to higher levels. This direction of information flow is important for transmitting data and information from lower levels to support decision-makings by upper level managers. Generally information related to field sales, suggestion for improvement, reactions to work-related issues and other significant suggestions and questions transmitted from the field supervisor or data managers to higher-level managers.

c)     Lateral communication

For this purpose, people working at the same level of hierarchy should be able to transmit information laterally to solve customer’s problems.

The process of decoding might be affected by the receiver’s past experience, mental models or from other situational factors. What is "Safe mode"?

Safe mode is a Windows maintenance mode where only the bare minimum of drivers are loaded. You don't have access to CD ROMs, printers, or other non-essential devices.

It's helpful to use this mode when you are having problems with your PC. For example, maybe you just installed an awesome new video card, but in all the excitement loaded the wrong driver for it. This in turn caused your video display under windows to be non-existant. If you go into Safe mode, you can fix it.

I also use it to help find problems with programs. If I get lots of "illegal operation" messages, I try running the program in safe mode to see if the program itself is the problem. If the program runs fine in safe mode, I can assume I have another program or driver that's interfering with the program's operation and causing the error. (Note that not all software runs in Safe mode - especially more robust programs, but it's still worth a shot).

To get to Safe mode, press the F8 key when Windows starts to boot. You have to do this BEFORE you see the first "Windows" screen. I start tapping away at mine when as soon as I get by the BIOS startup screen or the manufacturer's splash screen. Experiment and you'll get it.

Our romp through form and function is nearing it's end, and we have but four remaining F-Keys to discuss. The ALT, CTRL and Shift combinations haven't really added a whole lot of usefulness as far as I can tell, but we'd better finish this off with F9 through F12, just to be thorough! Remember: The F-keys are not a curse word, but a row of keys at the top of your keyboard ranging from F1 through F12.

Without any further hesitation a-here-we-go!

SymbOS.Hatihati.A is a Trojan horse that runs on the Symbian OS. The Trojan is a pirated version of the anti-theft software Guardian v0.95 which contains a bad configuration file. This virus resides at Mobile Memory and tries to send SMS automatically to the predefined numbers like +3396003964. HatiHati.A is a worm-like application that spreads via MMC cards. Once the worm copies itself to a new device, it starts sending a very high volume of SMS messages to a predefined number. The predefined number is inherent with the Hatihati.A malware and will not be picked from the contact list.

Ever wondered "how many internet users are there in the world"? Now we have an answer. The total global Internet audience surpassed 1 billion visitors in December 2008, based on data from the comScore World Metrix audience measurement service.

The Asia-Pacific region accounted for the highest share of global Internet users at 41 percent, followed by Europe (28 percent share), North America (18 percent share), Latin-America (7 percent share), and the Middle East & Africa (5 percent share).

The group is made up of people aged 15 and older, using home and work computers. It excludes traffic from public computers such as Internet cafes or access from mobile phones or PDAs.

The most simple answer is, "No, it's not okay to run more than one
antivirus program at the same time."

Technically, I've answered your question, but I suppose I'll give you
some reasons why too! All jokes aside though, this is a serious matter
and this is something that's important for every computer user to know.
Now, I thought we had done a tip on this in the past, but after
searchpadhing and searching through our archives, I couldn't find a decent
article on the subject. But, even if this is a duplicate, I feel it's
important enough to go over again. So, if you already know about all of
this, it could be a good refresher for you or if you're not sure about
it yet, please keep reading!

It makes sense that we, as computer users, assume that if we have more
than one anti virus program on our computers, we will be better
protected from outside threats. We all think that if one of them doesn't
catch something, the other surely will. Well, that just isn't true.
Using more than one program (or even multiple versions of the same one)
will likely cause you some problems. Here are a couple of the biggest
ones spelled out for you.

1.) *You will use up too many resources on your computer*. Doing that
will more than likely slow your system down and it will truly affect
your computer's performance.

2.) *You could receive false virus alerts*. Anti virus programs work by
using an actual virus to detect another one on your computer. So, if you
have more than one piece of software running at the same time, each
program will think the other is a virus. The two programs will conflict
in many ways.

How to install Windows XP:

If your computer does not have an Windows XP operating system currently
installed or you have decided to install Windows XP on your computer ,

Here's how to install Windows XP:

1. Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Restart the computer.
3. When the message to *Press any key to boot from CD…* is displayed,
quickly press any key (for example, the SPACEBAR). Setup begins.
4. After Setup starts, several messages will flash across the bottom
of the screen. These messages are only important under special
circumstances, such as installing a particular hardware access
layer (HAL), or loading a small computer system interface (SCSI)
driver.
5. Next, a screen appears that offers the following three options:
*Set up Windows XP*, *Repair a Windows XP installation*, or *Quit
Setup*. Press ENTER to select the first option.
6. The End User License Agreement appears next. Read the license
agreement and follow the instructions to accept or reject the
agreement. If your Windows CD is an upgrade CD, after accepting
the agreement, you will be prompted to insert the CD of your
previous operating system to verify that the previous version
qualifies for upgrade to Windows XP.
7. If a screen appears showing an existing installation of Windows
XP, press ESC to continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP.
8. At the next screen, you have the option of repartitioning your
drive. It's a good idea to repartition if you want to merge
several smaller partitions into one large one, or if you want to
create several smaller partitions so that you can set up a
multiboot configuration. If you want to repartition, follow the
instructions to delete existing partitions, if needed, and then
select unpartitioned space and press ENTER to proceed.
9. Select the formatting method you would like to use, and then press
ENTER. NTFS offers both enhanced formatting capabilities and
security technologies. If you need to access drives or DOS files
(such as from a DOS-based boot disk) using Windows Millennium
Edition or earlier versions of Windows, you might need to select
FAT32 instead. Select either format method (quick or slow).
10. Setup will format the drive, copy initial Setup files, and restart
the computer.
11. After another restart, the next part of Setup will begin.
12. On the *Regional and Language Options* page, follow the
instructions to add language support or change language settings,
if desired.
13. On the *Personalize Your Software* page, type your name and the
name of your company or organization (if applicable).
14. On the *Your Product Key* page, type the 25-character product key
that came with your copy of Windows XP.
15. On the *Computer Name and Administrator Password* page, make up a
computer name (if your network administrator gave you a name to
use, type that). Then make up a password for the Administrator
account on your computer. Type it once, and then confirm it by
typing it again.
16. On the *Date and Time Settings* page, make any changes that are
necessary.
17. On the *Networking Settings* page, if it appears, select *Typical
settings* (unless you plan to manually configure your networking
components).
18. On the *Workgroup or Computer Domain* page, click *Next*. If you
want to add your computer to a domain, select the second option
and fill in the domain name. (If you do this, you will be prompted
for a user name and password.)
19. Next, while Setup copies files to your computer and completes a

Partitioning the hard disk and selecting file systems

A partition is a logical section of a hard disk. Each partition normally has its own file system. For more information about partitions, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 313348.

You might need to reformat and repartition your hard disk if:

You have only one volume but you want to set up a multiboot configuration. You have to install each operating system on a separate volume so that each installation can retain its own files and configuration information.
The boot volume is not formatted with the correct file system:
1. If you want to create a multiboot system by using Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition along with Microsoft Windows XP, you have to format the boot volume by using FAT because Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows Millennium Edition do not support the NTFS file system.
2. If you want to install Windows 95 (retail version 4.00.950), your boot volume must be formatted as FAT. Windows 95 (OSR2.1 and above) can have a FAT32 boot volume and dual boot with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 258662.
3. If you want to create a multiboot system using Windows 95 OSR2, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition with Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you can format the boot volume by using FAT32.

Note: If you format a Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP volume with any file system other than NTFS, you will lose all NTFS-specific features. This includes Windows XP features such as file system security, Encrypting File System (EFS) settings, disk quotas, and remote storage. Likewise, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Millennium Edition do not recognize an NTFS partition; they will identify it as unknown. Therefore, if you format a Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition partition as FAT, and a Windows XP partition as NTFS, any files on the NTFS partition will not be available or visible if you try to access them while running Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition.

It's that time again! Yep, the Windows Updates for December 2008 were released on December 9, 2008 and if you haven't already installed them, I urge you to do so soon. This time around, it looks like there were six vulnerabilities labeled as "critical," while two of them were deemed "important." There were also several exploits revealed, which were taken care of by the Windows Updates as well. With all of that said, let's dive in and take a closer look at what changed on your computer this month!

First of all, let me tell you about the critical updates. They are as follows: vulnerabilities in GDI could allow for remote code execution, vulnerabilities in Windows Search could allow for remote code execution, cumulative security update for Internet Explorer, vulnerabilities in Visual Basic 6.0 runtime extended files could allow for remote code execution, vulnerabilities in MS Word could allow for remote code execution and vulnerabilities in MS Excel could allow for remote code execution. Phew, that was a mouthful!

Now, here are the important updates: vulnerability in MS SharePoint Server could cause elevation of privilege and vulnerabilities in Windows Media components could allow for remote code execution. Like I said before, several exploits were also fixed and of course, the monthly edition of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool was also updated. Well, there's the basics for you! Again, if you haven't installed the December 2008 Windows Updates yet, please do so as soon as possible. It's for your own good (and your computer's!)

WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION (WTO):

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an international body dealing with
international trade rules. It has started functioning from january1,
1995. Today, 147 countries are its members. Many countries are currently
negotiating for their accession. These include a number of developing
countries.

GATT was established as an international forum in 1948 by 23
signatories. Its purpose was to ensure non-discrimination, transparent
procedures, the settlement of disputes, and the participation of less
developed countries in international trade.

GATT was not originally intended to be an international organization.
Rather it was to be a multilateral treaty designed to operate under the
International Trade Organization (ITO). However, because the ITO never
came into being, the GATT became the governing body for settlement of
international trade disputes. Gradually it evolved into an institution
that sponsored various successful rounds of international trade
negotiations. One of the objectives of GATT was to create a World Trade
Organization (WTO).

The latest GATT negotiations, called the Uruguay Round, were initiated
in 1987. The main thrust of negotiations had become the sharpening of
dispute-settlement rules and the integration of the trade and investment
areas that were outside of the GATT. The governments represented in
these negotiations gave their consent and political backing to the
formation of the WTO.

Later in 1994, the Final Act was signed in a Ministerial Meeting held at

IE 7 Cache Limit

Do you use Internet Explorer 7 for all of your Web browsing needs? Are you a new Internet Explorer 7 user? Either way, among other things, you have probably noticed some changes in IE 7's cache size, compared to version 6. And that makes sense, because there's a huge difference! Microsoft basically revamped the cache feature in IE 7 and they did it all for your own good. Keep reading and I promise I'll explain everything!

First of all, in Internet Explorer 6, the default cache limit was set to 10 percent of your overall hard drive size. I know that may not seem like a whole lot, but when you consider how big hard drives are made these days, it adds up rather quickly. If you have a large hard drive, your 10 percent will also be a big number and the more you fill up that space, the more it will slow down your computer. Do you now see where I'm going with this? Luckily, you can set your own cache limit in IE 7 so that you won't ever have to worry about any slowdowns.

To create your own default cache size in Internet Explorer 7, go to Tools, Internet Options and then click on the General tab. Next, click on the Settings button, located under the Browsing History section. You can then set your cache limit under the heading of "Disk space to use." You can tap out at 1 GB, but it's recommended you don't go higher than 250 MB. Microsoft suggests you set it to 50 MB, but that's up to you. Just remember, the bigger your cache limit, the more you put yourself at risk for slowdowns and corruptions. Reset yours today!

A server is a service that allows clients (that's you) to be able to use programs within your computer. Servers are run through specialized computers, which are, ironically, also called servers. In other words, a server serves the information needed to a computer that it's connected with so that you can access your programs, files, etc.

Now, there are different types of servers you may have running through your system. One is a print server. That server works with the computer the printer is connected to, so when you go to print something, it's all able to work. Another server is a Web server, which you may have heard more about than others. Those are set in place so that you can visit Web sites everyday. When you type in a URL, that Web site has to send a request to the Web server in order for you to be able to view and browse through it. That's also an example of how fast servers work!

Two more main types of servers are a file server and an e-mail server. The file server is pretty self-explanatory, but it works to store the files you save and then deliver them when you need them. The e-mail server is what allows you to send out e-mail. It sends and receives the e-mails you write and get back everyday.

Do you have an iPod or an MP3 player? Whichever it is, I'm sure you've
noticed the little *Hold* button on your media player, right? You know,
the little switch located on the side (or top) of the player that you
can flip back and forth to either put it on or take it off the "hold"
position. So, what's that button actually used for? What's the point of
it? Well, allow me to explain!

The main purpose of the Hold switch is to save battery power. If you put
your iPod or MP3 player on hold, it will keep the player from
accidentally turning on while you have it in your pocket, purse,
backpack, etc. That will keep it from playing your music while you're
not even listening to it and that will save the battery from draining
faster than you'd like.

Using the Hold button also keeps all of the buttons untouched when
you're not using it. For example, if you forget to switch the Hold
button over when you're not using your player, the menu button could
accidentally be hit and it could even mess up some of your settings. You
don't want that to happen, now do you? I didn't think so! So, now that
you know what the Hold button is actually meant for, use it. Trust me,
you'll thank me later!

The Importance of Full Virus Scans.

A reader asks: My antivirus software says it has "real time" protection. Since it's always monitoring for virus activity, do I ever need to run a full virus scan on my whole system?

Well, the quick answer is yes. You still need to run a full virus scan about once a week.

Now, I'll give you the long answer with full explanations!

Most antivirus software provides two different functions. One of them is real time virus protection. That type of protection means the system listens for virus type activity at all times. If it detects something, it will identify the issue and remove the virus.

The second type of protection is the full system scan. Those types of scans will actually inspect every file on your system for an infection. If it finds an infected file, it will handle the virus appropriately.

Many people think that since the system has real time protection, there's no need for the full system scan. Since the system will detect virus activity, there's no point in scanning every file, right? Wrong!

Real time virus checking and full scanning work very differently and use different types of virus definitions. The real time scanner will find many types of attacks happening at the time, but they will not find everything. Real time protection looks for certain actions. If the action is not defined by the real time scanner, the antivirus software will not find the attack.

On the other hand, the real time virus scanner does not look for actions. It scans the files looking for certain codes that identify infected files. Many times, running the full system scan will detect viruses that have not triggered the real time scanning. That's why it's important to run a full system scan quite often.

For all of the computers here in the WorldStart office, we run a full system scan once a week. That ensures that any threats will be found within a reasonable amount of time.

On top of that, there are some antivirus programs that do full system scans whenever the system is not in use. That type of scanning is by far the best. What that means is, the antivirus software does the real time scanning and it also checks files for viruses when the system is idle. When you start using your computer, the full scan stops and it then continues when you're done. That type of scanning ensures that a full system scan is being done constantly and on a regular basis. In this day and age, it's very important for computers and other electronic devices to be as user friendly as possible and with that, more and more devices are being made with hot swappable capabilities. Basically, a hot swappable device is one that can be added or removed from a computer without having to reboot. USB devices are probably the most well known for being hot swappable, but there are several others as well.

Let's take a USB flash drive as an example. Most flash drives already have all the software they need built right in to them, so when you plug a flash drive into one of your USB ports, your computer is able to automatically recognize it as new hardware. In addition, you're able to start working with the flash drive right away, without having to download any software or drivers. All in all, if a device is able to begin functioning immediately after you plug it into your computer, it is considered to be hot swappable.

Like I said earlier, there are several hot swappable items on the market today. There are flash drives, printers, digital cameras, scanners, Webcams, microphones and many, many more. The hot swappable functionality is beneficial in that it allows you to work much faster without interruptions and with ease. I mean, if you had to restart your computer every time you wanted to use a new device, you'd be wasting a lot of time and you'd probably become very frustrated. I know I would!

Today is the first day of Second semester in JMC. We have just finished our first semester exam. With two days gap only we have now become ready for our next semester. Today there were only eleven students in the class. we took only four classes. Four teacher of English, Macroeconomics, Human resource management and Computer sir took the classes and gave us brief introductions about our course. Welcome Program for BBA First semester in JMC.

Today we have our welcome program in in BBA seminar hall of our college . Welcome was given by the seniors of third and seventh semester in support of student welfare club and Tu teachers associations.
It was a great fun. I enjoyed very much in today's program. It was stared in about 12 noon and the formal program was conducted about one and half hour. After the end of formal program we played game in the hall it was interesting and enjoyable too. In the game there are numbers up to 60 and the program host randomly choose a person and call him in front and ask him to choose a number and the one who is called in front have to do as what is written the for that number in a cheat.
Shivahari , Rajkumar , Dipendra , Milan , Lalit , Krishana etc including me were called in front and we did as what is written the cheat. In the number I choose I have to define about a love I just said that "love is the relation between persons." the moment I was called in front I forget every thing and just say that much and came back.
After this all students & teachers went to have food. Food was nice and after that there was a Dance Party in the hall so we all gather in the hall. There was good sound system and some disco lights. Every body dance in the hall. It was continue till about 5 o'clock and after there was a power cut so we have to stop the program.
Today's welcome program will remain as a one of the memorable day in my life.

BBA Cup football Tournament in JMc.

We have our inter-semester BBA cup football Tournament in our campus, Yesterday first semi-final match was won by our team Section B 1^stsemester and second was win by of 1^stsemester's Section A . The final game was held today at Tibetan Camp in Chhorepatan. Unfortunately we lose our game by 4-2 . Any way it was a great fun and a memorable Day in my life and was also my first prize on Janapriya Multiple Campus .

The only way to get the best of an argument is to not have your buttons pushed.
Show respect for the other person's opinions. Don't say, "You're wrong." Instead you can say, "That's a point of view perhaps I can learn to appreciate".
If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
Begin in a friendly way with a tone of voice that is low in pitch.
Get the other person saying "yes" immediately. Therefore start asking questions immediately.
Let the other person do a great deal of the talking.
Let the other person feel that the idea is his or hers.
Try genuinely to see things from the other person's point of view.
Be sympathetic with the other person's ideas and desires.
When you feel it's appropriate, consider creating a challenge.

Google Docs Redesign

Are you an avid Google Docs and Spreadsheets user? (If you're not sure what Google Docs is, you can read here for a complete explanation). Well, if you are, you probably already know about the redesign that took place a couple months ago, right? But, just in case it's been awhile since you've used the program, I thought I would give you a heads up on what you might see the next time you open it up. Now, before I go any further, I'm just going to tell you that the new design looks absolutely fantastic. If you want to know more, you've got to continue reading!

First of all, Google has given their Docs and Spreadsheets program a whole new interface and it's easier to use than ever. The redesign of the interface has really keyed in on some of the issues people (and maybe you) were having with it before. For one thing, the new interface is much faster than it was before and it really just pulls you in to use it. This is one interface you'll really enjoy working with. On another note, Google has also added a new drag and drop feature to the program, which is always very helpful.

Along with that, there is a whole new folder layout. Google finally got rid of the "tag" feature and replaced it with folders. So, if you ever had trouble figuring out how to make folders in Google Docs, that will never happen again! One more very cool feature that has been added to the new Google Docs has to do with the Search box. From now on, when you're performing a search, Google Docs will give you some suggestions for what they think you're searching for, all before you even finish typing. It's a lot like the Google Suggest option you can use for a regular Google search as well. So, how does all of that sound? If you're big into using Google Docs, I think you're going to find that these new features are very helpful and easy to work with. No doubt about it!

Hollywood.com quoted a friend as saying: 'The way foetus is lying made it difficult for the doctor to tell if there was more than one baby in there.'<BR>Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony received the good news after visiting her Beverly Hills gynecologist Robert Katz. Lopez had an ultrasound performed in a New York office Sep 12. One insider said: 'The test calculated that she was about 12 weeks pregnant.'<BR>The couple has been trying to get pregnant for the past two years, and eventually turned to in vitro fertilization.<BR>It is not known whether the baby news will interfere with the couple's upcoming tour dates, which begin in early November. This will be he couple's first child together. Anthony, 39, already has three children from previous relationships.

AutoCorrect and Symbols

Do you use a lot of symbols in MS Word?

I bet some of you know how to set shortcut key combinations for quick insertion of symbols, right?

If so, do you ever find yourself frustrated when you're trying to remember a key combination to use that you know is available? I mean, it surely makes enough sense that you should remember it.

Yeah, that happens to me too. So, you've got to wonder what other options are out there.

Well, today, I'd like to suggest using the AutoCorrect feature for some of your symbol shortcuts.

To begin, go to the Insert menu, Symbol choice.

When the Symbol window opens, locate the symbol you need and click on it, just like normal.

It's at this point that we head off to the AutoCorrect feature using the AutoCorrect button located on the bottom left side.

When the AutoCorrect window opens, the symbol you selected will already be filled in and all you need to do is enter the characters that should initiate the AutoCorrect replacement.

For example, maybe you need to use the math symbol for "not equal to." You might use "not=" as the keyword to trigger the symbol replacement, but if you can't remember a keyword so obvious, you're probably not going to remember anything else either.

It goes without saying that you do need to be careful with your choice of characters used to signal the AutoCorrect you use to make the exchange. You don't want to pick anything that's a legitimate word or character combinations you may need to use for real. You don't want Word accidentally creating gibberish of your document, now do you?

When you're done, click the Add button to register the entry and then click OK to return to the Symbol window. Once there, click the Close button to return to your document.

That's it. A whole new way to quickly insert symbols, without all the menus and searching!

Detect a Hacker Attack.

Most computer vulnerabilities can be exploited in a variety of ways. Hacker attacks may use a single specific exploit, several exploits at the same time, a misconfiguration in one of the system components or even a backdoor from an earlier attack.
Due to this, detecting hacker attacks is not an easy task, especially for an inexperienced user. This article gives a few basic guidelines to help you figure out either if your machine is under attack or if the security of your system has been compromised. Keep in mind just like with viruses, there is no 100% guarantee you will detect a hacker attack this way. However, there's a good chance that if your system has been hacked, it will display one or more of the following behaviours.

Windows machines:
Suspiciously high outgoing network traffic. If you are on a dial-up account or using ADSL and notice an unusually high volume of outgoing network (traffic especially when you computer is idle or not necessarily uploading data), then it is possible that your computer has been compromised. Your computer may be being used either to send spam or by a network worm which is replicating and sending copies of itself. For cable connections, this is less relevant - it is quite common to have the same amount of outgoing traffic as incoming traffic even if you are doing nothing more than browsing sites or downloading data from the Internet.
Increased disk activity or suspicious looking files in the root directories of any drives. After hacking into a system, many hackers run a massive scan for any interesting documents or files containing passwords or logins for bank or epayment accounts such as PayPal. Similarly, some worms search the disk for files containing email addresses to use for propagation. If you notice major disk activity even when the system is idle in conjunction with suspiciously named files in common folders, this may be an indication of a system hack or malware infection.
Large number of packets which come from a single address being stopped by a personal firewall. After locating a target (eg. a company's IP range or a pool of home cable users) hackers usually run automated probing tools which try to use various exploits to break into the system. If you run a personal firewall (a fundamental element in protecting against hacker attacks) and notice an unusually high number of stopped packets coming from the same address then this is a good indication that your machine is under attack. The good news is that if your personal firewall is reporting these attacks, you are probably safe. However, depending on how many services you expose to the Internet, the personal firewall may fail to protect you against an attack directed at a specific FTP service running on your system which has been made accessible to all. In this case, the solution is to block the offending IP temporarily until the connection attempts stop. Many personal firewalls and IDSs have such a feature built in.
Your resident antivirus suddenly starts reporting that backdoors or trojans have been detected, even if you have not done anything out of the ordinary. Although hacker attacks can be complex and innovative, many rely on known trojans or backdoors to gain full access to a compromised system. If the resident component of your antivirus is detecting and reporting such malware, this may be an indication that your system can be accessed from outside.
Unix machines:
Suspiciously named files in the /tmp folder. Many exploits in the Unix world rely on creating temporary files in the /tmp standard folder which are not always deleted after the system hack. The same is true for some worms known to infect Unix systems; they recompile themselves in the /tmp folder and use it as 'home'.
Modified system binaries such as 'login', 'telnet', 'ftp', 'finger' or more complex daemons, 'sshd', 'ftpd' and the like. After breaking into a system, a hacker usually attempts to secure access by planting a backdoor in one of the daemons with direct access from the Internet, or by modifying standard system utilities which are used to connect to other systems. The modified binaries are usually part of a rootkit and generally, are 'stealthed' against direct simple inspection. In all cases, it is a good idea to maintain a database of checksums for every system utility and periodically verify them with the system offline, in single user mode.
Modified /etc/password, /etc/shadow, or other system files in the /etc folder. Sometimes hacker attacks may add a new user in /etc/password which can be remotely logged in a later date. Look for any suspicious usernames in the password file and monitor all additions, especially on a multi-user system.
Suspicious services added to /etc/services. Opening a backdoor in a Unix system is sometimes a matter of adding two text lines. This is accomplished by modifying /etc/services as well as /etc/ined.conf. Closely monitor these two files for any additions which may indicate a backdoor bound to an unused or suspicious port.

7. Highlight standard 33600 bps Modem and then click next.

8. Select port COM 1 and click next.

9. Highlight 3360 bps Modem and click properties.

10. Click Diagnostics.

11. Click query modem. (this may take several seconds)

12. Click advance option and change default preferences.

13. Select port speed 115200 and flow control hardware none.

14. Click ok.

15. Go to my network places.

16. Then create new connection and click next.

17. Tick connects to the internet and click next.

18. Tick connect using dial up Modem and click next.

19. Tick standard 33600 bps Modem only and click next.

20. Give ISP name (e.g. Dharma)

21. Give Phone number #777

22. Provide username and password (if not must brought from Ntc office) and click next.
23. Click finish.

24. Then finally dial to connect internet.
